EUSA Badminton 2019 concluded

The European Universities Badminton Championship 2019 has finally concluded on 29th June with a Closing Ceremony Lodz University of Technology Sports Bay.

 

Over 100 participants from 15 Universities from 11 countries took part in this year’s edition of the event.

 

In mixed doubles finals, the title of champions went to John Torjussen and Emily Westwood from University of Nottingham, who won an exciting final match against Pawel Pietryja and Kornelia Marczak representing Opole University.

 

In men’s singles finals, the title of champion went to Jan Louda from University of West Bohemia, who won the final match against his teammate (and doubles partner) Ondřej Král.

 

    

 

In women’s singles finals, the title of champion went to Lilian Yang (University of Nottingham) who in the final match defeated Ronja Stern from University of Bern.

 

In women’s doubles finals, Emily Westwood and Lilian Yang of University of Nottingham secured one more gold medal each, winning an exciting final match against Lea Maria Müller and Ronja Stern (University of Bern).

 

    

 

In the last game of the championship - men’s doubles finals, the title of champions went to Fabien Delrue and Matéo Martinez from University of Strasbourg, who won an exciting final match against Ahmet Can Oruç and Yusuf Yaşar of Uludag University.

  

The medals and awards were presented by prof. Witold Pawłowski – vice rector of the host university - Lodz University of Technology, Mr Panos Razis, Mr Besim Aliti, Mr Erik Ligtvoet, Ms Isabelle Jobard and Mr Liam Smith – EUSA representatives and Przemysław Jagielski and Joanna Jagielska – OC representatives.

 

       

 

The EUSA flag was passed to Mr Zoltan Rakaczki – representative of the next organizer of the championship, which will be held in Miskolc, Hungary.
